Jonathan Richmond founded Takeoff Space in 2016 with the goal of serving underserved high school students in the college application process by connecting them with college mentors. What motivated Jonathan was his unwavering belief that high-capacity students from disadvantaged backgrounds faced barriers towards applying to elite colleges or universities. With a little help, Jonathan strove to prove that many of these brilliant students can go on to fulfill their own potential. As a result of his efforts, Takeoff Space has been able to get numerous underprivileged students into elite colleges while also providing them financial assistance and support networks.

While we are saddened by the loss of Jonathan in February of 2020, the mentors of Takeoff Space have dedicated their time and energy towards continuing the organization in his memory.
